OUR MISSION, AIMS & OBJECTIVES

The Department’s mission is integrated to involve three areas:
1.Education of health care students in the areas of surgical and clinical Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
2.Research investigations in the areas of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology to increase understanding of oral and para-oral diseases, its recognition, its treatment, and its prevention. This Department also conducts research to improve methods for teaching subject related decision making and learning skills to students in the specific academic areas encompassed by this Department.
3.Service to the college, university, state and national dental organizations and their constituents, and other health care professions.
The purpose of Oral pathology course in dental program is to teach the students basic pathological principles causing diseases pertaining to oral and para-oral structures and provide a basis for the diagnostic work up in dental practice. To achieve this, the department functions with the following objectives.
•To ensure optimal care through accurate diagnosis or management of diseases and abnormalities of the oral and maxillofacial region.
•To provide a center for teaching and dissemination of knowledge through its archived collections, its courses, scholarly exchanges, and public service.
•To promote oral and maxillofacial pathology as a specialty of dentistry and pathology; encourage collaboration and interaction with other health care providers, laboratories, hospitals, and professional organizations.
•To provide state of the art, comprehensive consultation and tissue diagnostic and reporting services to hospitals, clinicians, private practitioners and specialists in dentistry and medicine in and around Sriganganagar.
•To be facilitators and guides, a step more than simple teachers.
•To have fair and open system of teaching and learning activities.
•To inculcate the thirst in learners to acquire in-depth knowledge, give them a sense of responsibility and accountability.
•Motivate them to put in hard and genuine effort to shine in their duties.
•Help the learner to develop their confidence and use this knowledge for clinical application in day-to-day practice.
•To guide postgraduate students to develop independent capabilities to learn, apply and diagnose various diseases.
